Aura Productions - Offaly-based leader in Video and DVD production
It started with Farm TV, a company established by Malachy Mangan and Harry Hill in 1994 to provide an innovative nationwide network of advertising, educational and informative programming on 25 closed-circuit television systems located in the canteen/restaurants of Ireland's livestock markets.
"The audience was agricultural and rural," says Harry Hill. "Most of the people who advertise have never been involved in video production and had no prepared TV adverts. So, in addition to setting up the medium, we set up a production company to produce advertisements and programming. Our agricultural clients liked what we were doing for them and this led to a demand for company and product promotional videos."
Within a short time, the company's work began to attract a growing number of non-agricultural clients and in 1998 Aura Productions was established as a new company - similar operation but with a wider focus and a name that differentiates it from the agri-related business. With its own in-house production and editing facilities, Aura can offer a on-stop-shop for many clients requiring video, DVD, CD-ROM, and multimedia services. "We handle the project from concept development, script writing, the shoot, edit to delivery" comments Phillip Doyle, Project Manager and Editor.
The work is typically fast-paced. Managing Director, Malachy Mangan, gives an example: "Today, we're shooting a promotional film for an Irish engineering company in Dundalk. Tomorrow, we will edit it and upload it to a secure website where the client can review it and advise on any changes. By next day the changes are made and, the day after, the final movie is downloaded and shown to the company's customers at a sales presentation in the U.S." In recognition of employment and growth potential, marketing strength and innovative use of technology the company was awarded the Offaly Enterprise of the Year in 2004.
"We have had a very positive association with Offaly County Enterprise Board", says Malachy Mangan. "We have benefited greatly from the financial and knowledge services that they provide... "to take one example, the Board helped finance the development of our website. This year, a London company became aware of us through the website and gave Aura Productions an assignment to produce a film. A Scottish company saw the film and they, in turn, gave us a film contract."
"We were proud to have played a positive part in securing the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil for Tullamore in 2007 by producing a DVD which formed part of the successful application." Among other Offaly-based clients are Offaly County Council and Boston Scientific.
Aura Productions and Farm TV are the first corporate communications company in Ireland that have been awarded ISO 9002 Certification. "We continue to grow," says Harry Hill. The use of video imagery has become an essential element in a modern focused company - in promotional tools, presentations, training and websites. We have the experience, expertise and dedication to meet the communication objectives of our clients."
